Marie-Aliette Pot is a PhD student in Archaeology at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, under the direction of Professor Pascal Butterlin, and she is a member of team VEPMO of Unité Mixte de Recherche UMR 7041 ArScAn..
Her research focuses on glyptics in Syrian Jezirah in the 3rd millennium BC. Her aim is to study seals – objects of a high symbolic value – for what they were and what they represented, and also to understand their context of use and hence, in a broader scope, the administrative management system.
Her dual training at the Ecole du Louvre and the Université Paris 1 offers a diversity of approaches combining the treatment of objects according to a museum vision, and their integration into a general archaeological context, by using photographs, scientific drawings and creating databases.
