In 2018, Archaïos completed its first contract for UNESCO. The mission of the Kabul branch office is to provide logistical support and technical assistance in the development of the country and in particular its mining extraction operations. To this end, twelve priority mining areas have been defined and must be analysed by photo-interpretation in order to protect the archaeological heritage in the vicinity of exploitable resources.
To carry out this work, Archaïos responded to UNESCO’s call and mapped the Baghlan mining region in north-eastern Afghanistan, identifying 195 potential sites.
